Until recently Canon has always been regarded as superior to Nikon but their lead has really diminished with the D40/x/60 (Reigniting the consumer dSLR craze), The D300 attracting many prosumers and pros who like it as a backup body (myself included), the D700, breaking the 5D monopoly as an affordable FF, and the D3, whose high ISO performance is really something to admire. Right now both are pretty equal in my eyes, and yes I have used most of each companies bodies and glass. I just chose the D300 over the 40D because of it's performance, build and ergonomics, but I'm sure the D700 vs. 5D Mk II fanboy fight will be very interesting to watch. FF is favourable in one sense because of less pixel density (think of putting packing peanuts into one box and then stuffing said peanuts into a box 1.6x smaller).

    • I thought people were still onto Canon DSLRs because of those L lenses.pom
