I think the field will continue to mature as the designers mature. You might not want to be doing what NoPattern does when you are 50, but what about what Jesse James Garrett does? Also it sounds cliche, the state of the art will progress dramatically over the course of our careers. What we are using today will be as outdated as dial up modems by the time we are older. To me that keeps it interesting.
