    vespa makes the most proper points. and this goes for everyone.

    the more money you ask for the more clout you can have in that game, so dont hold, and dont believe anything about reccessions and all that... there is always room for high salaries or higher than you are earning.

    boost your rates, and see how easy your life can become, the worst they can say is no or lets negotiate, but if you pigeon hole yourself into a lower class salary then you will never ever make a better one and your chances of moving up in your career will very much be at a stand still and you will hate your life.

    ive been there,, im saying from experience, rasise your rates higher than you think... and you will be very suprised at how many yes answers you get over a lower salary and a no answer is usually given.
