Hypothetically, so what if Russia decided to have an alliance with Mexico. Invited them to be part of some new Warsaw Pact and Mexico agreed....? ACtually to make it a more closer analogy let's say Texas seceded from the US an dthen signed a mutual defense pact with Russia...how would that go down with you?

That's essentially what is happening in Georgia, except switch the actors around.

Not to say the US isn't right in protecting an ally like Georgia, but there were smart ways to handle it and dumb provacative ways. Bush went dumb and provocative.

And you know what, after a while the "dumb" argument doesn't make much sense. There is a rationale behind it? What is it? Fuck if I know, but you'll get close if you keep along the cui bono line.

The timing of all this tension with russia strikes me as odd..not passing the smell test...

    • Ok, I think we are on the same page on this...with slightly different takes. I agree with what you are saying.designbot
    • Still I don't think it's comparing apples to apples when you try and put Russia in the same shoes as the US currently is.designbot

    • Just saying that Russia's action towards Georgia are rational.TheBlueOne
    • If you want to be dumb and make the idealogical argument for domestic political points go ahead...TheBlueOne
    • ...but that doesn't change the real situation of grand strategy.TheBlueOne
    • Not saying "you" as you db, just using it in the abstract...TheBlueOne
