I watched the whole thing and was honestly surprised that she asked for help.

I have an older cousin who I'm really not close with and have not talked to in more than 13 years but I hear about him from my Mom. He's 40 or 41 years old, just got out of jail for nearly a month for his third DUI, and assaulting his brother, who actually dropped him off at a police station because he knew he had warrants and was sick of dealing with him.

He's an alcoholic, nothing of an abuse level like the woman in these videos, but he basically has NOTHING to live for. Family have tried so many times over the years to help him, to help him even pass a test to get into the Navy, which he could not do. He doesn't recognize his problem at all, but maybe this time, being in jail, he's seen how dismal and worthless his life is.

Somehow he got off of the third DUI, but he's on probation for 5 years - any single screwup or arrest and he goes to jail for 10 years minimum, in Texas where he lives. The judge told him "the only thing you have going for you or to your name in life is your criminal record."

I heard from my Mom that her sister (his mom) said he realized he really screwed up this time. I think it's the first time he's really realized the ultimatum he's got. My mom and I both are nearly 99% assured he's going to do something wrong and wind up in prison. Even though I have no relationship with him at all it's really sad to think about for him as a person in general. He never did any really hard drugs - mostly drinking, but I remember he was in rehab several times when I was a kid. All he wants is money - he's in a perpetual state of thinking that all he needs to straighten up is for someone to loan him money. His mom cut him off.

Anyhow, I'm rambling, but just want to relate in some way to those of you who have dealt with problems yourself or with family. There are a ton of laughs in these videos, but I'm glad to see that she got help. I know people go through far worse struggles than that. She's lucky she didn't kill anyone or herself.

    • Laughter is a good coping mechanism. This particular episode kind of begs for it unfortunately.dog_opus
    • i hope there's light at the end of the struggle.Point5
