Hows this make him a douchebag?
dude bought some land and now wants to keep private what he paid for...
"We had to go all the way around, took another hour and a half to get back home,” he told KTVU of the new detour. “Hopefully this will all get resolved so people can easily go from one end of Marin to the other."

.. you're now on private property.
Granted - it'd be nice if he left space for people to travel... but ask yourself if you would do that... if it was your property.
Here comes the million dollar Q: What if someone got hurt while hiking on your property?
