Keep yourself billable on as many client accounts as possible so that when you ask for more money once or twice a year you can qualify yourself.
Also, as a designer, think more strategically about client projects - knowledge of the clients budget/money is important.
Offer solutions that maximize profits - i.e. keep projects in house, if you can, working with available resources and talent.
