    I've learned to make it easier to give people bad news, ie: project is off schedule, desired customization/functionality is out of scope or too expensive, site can't launch on time, stuff like that.

    I have confrontation and bad news, but my boss kind of made me realize this: they're going to find out sooner or later, so just get it over with - tell them what you need to tell them and provide alternatives and options.
