    What i_monk said. You can either play where you were born, or where you live now (with a citizenship, I believe).

    I know Sherraine Schalm was born in Canada, but (probably due to a lack of funding) trained with the Hungarian team until they basically kicked her out. Then she went to the Canadian team and trained with regular coaches there (just got a national coach this year after a long time).

    Also, during the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Sarah Podorieszach, a Canadian-born, Italian luger resigned from the Canadian Luge team in September 2004 and began competing for the Italian National Luge team. This was due to Podorieszach's dual Canadian/Italian citizenship.
