    I'm assuming you're in the UK, but over here in the US, we get 1099'd.
    its a pain in the ass and a way for the employer to not pay taxes.

    my bet, find an attorney willing to give some free advice.
    Personally, i love freelancing.. but you need to have a good client base. like Pony said, start building up clients immediately.

    make sure any contract you write is fair to the employer and doesn't only benefit you, that will keep you both happy and doing good business together.
