A web designer is different from a web developer, whoever suggested that. Designer = designs, Developer = develops (code)!
An experience designer, designs experiences, microsites etc, specializing probably in UI
A web editor, I would say is someone who maintains websites (ZZZZ) and doesn't get to do much of the fun stuff. A web engineer would be someone who's more of a developer, specializing in something.
Some titles can be vague, and nothing more than a buzzword. But for the most part, they make sense. It depends on your skills, and what you mainly choose to do. Creative designer is a good vague title that means you do lots of disciplines.
'New media specialist' is a title my yell.com advertising guy was given. He's a sales guy, and when he got a job they put him on yell.com, which makes him a new media specialist. He's good at his job, but to be honest there are times where he hasn't quite grasped how the technology works - so in this example, it really is more of a BS title.
- damn, just inadvertently advertised for a huge multi-billion pound advertising agency! DAMNMojo
