since mac osx is unix, it is feasible that a linux version could come out one day.
the porting process would be pretty daunting, but i think it could be done.
i think the main differences would be how mac's desktop manager acts in comparison to how kde or gnome act.
of course, gimp is a great program. so, photoshop isn't as important as illustrator at this point. there's not much out there to match illustrator for linux.
if linux could get a flash port and a illustrator port, i think a lot of shops would switch over to it.
a lot of hollywood has already. pixar, ilm, etc are all either 100% linux or very very close.
the majority of the major motion pictures out in the last 3-5 years have been made on linux boxes.
can't deny it's power.
