You know it also depends on what software you prefer to use...personally I think Premier is a joke...AE is obviously rad...and as far as DV authoring...I have used DVD Studio Pro 1.5 extensively...I maxed out the number of allowed tracks on a DVD with it...1.5 was ALRIGHT, but id did have some shortcomings as far as interface design goes...it still did EVERYTHING that the DVD spec allows for though...DVDSP 2 looks faaaar more promissing. Anyway, my point is that I have authored a DVD that was sent out to the masses called North (canadian skateboarding video)....it was sent out worlwide. I did this on my lowly dual 500 G4 with DVD Studio Pro 1.5 ...and it worked perfectly. So there you go...you actually dont NEED either of these computers...I COULD infact have just as easily authored that DVD on an iMac.
I think everyone is getting waaay too ahead of themselves here...he just wants to edit video and author DVDs. Not start a million dollar production facility.
