formed... i did the same. went through college and earned my b.arch and worked at a few firms during school (residency, summer internships, etc). i was doing freelance graphic and web design during school on the sign for money, and during my final year after getting larger freelance projects it hit me... i don't want to go through IDP hell just to make something of myself or career. nor do i want to suffer through creativity-stifling work for 10+ years.
now i have gone totally freelance (moving towards company) and like formed have no regrets, and make quite a bit more money than my fellow architecture graduates working at architecture firms now. i do miss architecture as an area of study and still do research and personal experimentation with it, but definitely don't miss the profession!
