Compared to the other designs you've posted I think this is an improvement, you've done a good job of getting rid of the unnecessary elements. Keep in mind though the fact that it's minimal means that a lot will rest on how well you display and integrate your portfolio pieces, so you should mock those up as soon as you can and see how it looks. Also, this is a small detail but the tiny diagonal arrows next to some of the text items look a little weird to me, maybe move them a little bit further from the text.
