I've never had an Audi, but friends have, and they love them. I've had VW's and Honda's before, and I never noticed that the parts for VW's were too expensive, but compared to the $0 I've had to spend on parts on my Honda (02 SI) I guess it'd seem like more. My main problems with my VW's were door locks & window motors, etc...never anything in the engine, just lots of electrical bullshit. If you're looking for endless reliability and almost nonexistent maintenance (except for oil changes and the other routine stuff), go with the Honda. VWs and Audis are a little more money to maintain, but are alot more fun to drive. This is just from my personal experience...for whatever that's worth.
