it will be hard a hell to dig in and stay in NYC. you will be thinking about returning to where you came from many time over, but if you can hang in there you will see how amazing the city is and how there are as many crazy people here as there are opportunities. eventually, you will be able to navigate the maze of crazy people and take advantage of the opportunities... good luck, and start signing up for temp agencies that deal with designers (TTS Personel, update graphics, access staffing) you should also look into moving to brooklyn, there are cheaper places to live and most of the designers live here...
