with slight rewriting, I now stand behind this statement:
graphic design is a coercive, possibly even fascistic, profession. The designer frames material in order to shape perception in predetermined directions. This is why we become enraged when a client disagrees with us. They have failed to follow orders.- graphic design is coercive because it shapes perceptions and doing that all day means others are stupid********
- never mind that tell me about the presentation********
- it means we are stupid--the joke is on us********
- it means I am stupid, the joke is one me********
- never mind--I'm drowning********
- see you at WO, drinks on me********
