tim is pretty much right about that, but that doesn't mean you cannot shop and buy stuff in the SOHO region, there are also some nice places to chow down in the Tribeca area. Just follow Broadway up and down in the SOHO area and check out the side streets, including Spring and Prince. You'll see some fun shit in their too. But yeah, off the path stuff is for sure better.
