A few weeks ago my dad was woken up at 3.00am by some odd shuffling and scratching noises on the downstairs bay window outside his bedroom window. He got out of bed and parted the curtains, and looking back at him were two "Hoodies" (his word) They live in a tiny little semi so if they were stood on top of his bay window they'd have almost been on eye level with my Dad.
They jumped off and ran away and the police came. They were trying to steal the lead flashing from around the window, not break in. They'd already stripped the neighbours... it cost the neighbour £8 to buy new lead... so stolen second hand lead would be worth all of about about £4 but they were prepare to go to all that trouble to steal it.
The weird part though is that my dad is security mad and has video cameras, trip lights, proximity sensors and a mad yapping dog, and they managed to avoid setting any of those of.
Hard Times.
Still, good times, eh!
- is he sure they were hoodies? 'ninja' would be a better way to describe em if they got through all the security systems...ian
