from what i know most of the REPS want to see some history.. like you have done work and have established clients.. here in denver there is one major rep in town.. that's it.. most of the work they seem to do is for coors.. it does not look that fun.. mainly a commerical rep.. no editorial. I would like to know some of the same answers you are asking also.. I know the rep here in town takes 30 %.. + some reps expect you to pay for promotion..
there is a good book on this stuff that i have.. let me look for it and i will post the title
