For those that feel "Nike Killed Skateboarding" lets think about it for a minute. Skateboarding and skateboarders have adapted what they have WANTED into the culture. I have been skating for 18 years and have worked on both sides of the fence. Corporate and endemic. Skateboarding has evolved as a business whether we like it or not. Its a natural progression of business. Do you as a skater like the evolution of product and overall acceptance of the sport in our society? Or are you even a skater? My thoughts are you dont really understand the history of the sport. Skating is NOTHING like it used to be. People would rather watch than hate now. At the end of the day its about passion. Did Dogtown sell out because they made a hit indie flick about the sport? No. Nike is one company that has help progress skateboarding and add to the sport. No different than DC who actually sold to Quick quite some time back for 100 million. The crazier fact is that most endemic shoe companies have made shoe styles that are strangely similar to Dunks? Also have you noticed that since Nike came into the seen with the exclusive drops, every other company has done the same? Coincidence? Evolve or die my friend. Embrace it. The old school fight of skateboarding has past. It is MAINSTREAM. Thats just the truth.
