  ^ this is true. we have a lot of accents and ways of pronunciation certain words depending on the order of vowels and consonants, which can be a bit hard. I often hear that portuguese from brazil is easier to learn because its more smooth where as portuguese from portugal e is bit more 'harsh' and quick...

  Although i don't necessarily agree with TBOs comment about it being 'your dumb hick cousin from alabama'. Actually, in general brazilian portuguese is more basic in terms of grammar than the original language.
