Will the world end in 2012? I don't think so!
Will there be a major cataclysm in 2012? Quite possibly.
I hear a lot of religious people express their belief that the world will end at around the year 2012, because the Mayan Calendar does not date past 2012.
First off...the Mayan calendar doesnt accurately depict a full year...if I’m not mistaken, the calendar only counts up to 200 something days...not even a full length year by our standards.
Second, the Mayan calendar was heavily influenced by many pagan and patron spirits and was used to mark events for their rituals and gods...sooooo, basically I guess I’m asking...
In terms of religion, why are we using the Mayan calendar, an inaccurate and pagan influenced means of dating, to determine the end of the Christian world? Maybe I have my facts smudged...if that’s true, someone please correct me then...but I don’t really understand otherwise.
