    Can't you simply say "Sorry I'm not available, I already have plans to: (insert excuse)"
    i.e.
    "see my family, half of which are terminally ill"
    "help my church serve hotdogs to the homeless"
    "hunt down a chimp who chewed off my cousin's testacles"
    "get filled out like an application by a heavy set Swedish couple"
    "be a clown for burnt orphans"
