I have been asked to comment on this:
"As a practice, we don't suggest gradients, drop shadows or other graphic treatments in logo usage. There are a few reasons, but one of the most important is the inability to control such things in different production processes. A logo with a gradient is impossible to keep precise from PMS to CMYK and many times causes production problems, and often does not reproduce well on the web. We also typically limit logos to two PMS colors when possible, so that the mark doesn't drive production costs every time it is used.

For our specific color selections, we can definitely explore a different blue. We have ruled out quite a few other color options between the discovery session/creative brief and the first round of comps, but I'm confident we can find the right balance between a conservative and a brighter blue."

One consideration that we wanted to mention is that when we developed our proposal for the logo tweak, we did not anticipate that it would require as many rounds as it has. We also did not anticipate that it would involve new color choices. We certainly want the team to be happy with the final choice but may have to revise the budget to cover these additional hours if we don't hit the mark with our next round."
