yeah try sitting it out and see what happens (take a copy of the game before returning it though!!).
i have bought and sold a lot through ebay recently, the trick is to be wary - if you are selling stuff then do it by your own rules - i.e paypal only, no pickup - whatever rules you want to set.
and for buying, make sure you are buying from a reputable seller with a decent amount of positive feedback who wouldnt want it tainted with "this guy sells pirated software for full price".
i was down for winning i a Vision Gator DVD from some guy - before the auction ended he send me an email saying that the dvd was a copy and not original and claimed he'd bought it that way and if i wanted to proceed with the auction. gues sthats piraters way of getting round getting into trouble. theyl suss you out to see if you dont mind getting pirated goods as long as its at a cheaper rate.
sounds like your guy was just taking the piss though asking fullprice almost hehe,
