I call this story:
Excerpts from Jaline's kindergarten report cards, and how she hasn't changed all that much - Pt. I
1990-1991:
"Jaline is a happy, quiet and cooperative little girl in class. She is enthusiastic and eager to participate in all of the activities. She prefers playing alone rather than with a group. She has gained a great deal of self-confidence this year. However she is still hesitant when communicating with classmates and teacher."
"Jaline enjoys stories, songs and poems. Hopefully she will feel more confident next year to participate in discussions and songs."
French: "Jaline has not participated yet in French, but she enjoys the different activities."
1991-1992
Senior kindergarten:"Jaline is a cooperate and cheerful girl. [She] manipulates fine motor materials easily and well. She works independently and puts some details in her work. She is beginning to do some actions and says some words to rhymes and songs. She is attentive during group lessons.
Though she is still reluctant to talk, she tries to communicate using actions. She will whisper answers sometimes."
"During outdoor play, Jaline has played with sand but has shied away from climbing, sliding, etc."
French: "Jaline is beginning to whisper a few words in French. She is a good listener."
March 2, 1992:
"Jaline is slowly overcoming her shyness and will "mouth" verses and songs. She especially enjoys pretend play activities and these situations will hopefully lead to greater oral participation on her part. You can do it, Jaline!"
June, 1992:
"For the most part, she is still reluctant to talk and this hampers progress in singing and group activities."
"Jaline still lacks confidence necessary to speak in front of a group. However, she expresses herself enthusiastically in her written work and especially enjoys Mathematics. Jaline's work is always neat, accurate, and attractive."
1995 - 1996
"She rarely volunteers answers but when questioned, her answers are accurate."
