I thought it was a beautiful film. Hal Holbrook was just wonderful.
Whether or not you feel he was selfish, naive, or self-destructive, I don't think it was the point to paint a picture to that effect one way or the other. It was more about process - the process of searching, seeking different answers and not necessarily accepting what's handed to you whether that leads to your death or not. I think the film shares a kinship with "Grizzly Man" in that respect.
