"the iphone doesn't have spam filtering, as far as i know"

LOL. this is insane. since when did a mobile become a mail server? why on earth would one wish to have filters applied at the end-device, and not the mail server (regardless of POP or IMAP)? the very idea is an easy compromise to the mail account anyway.
    - google is not *the* answer... although it is a pretty simple way to use as a 'spam filter'
    - set up account filtering AT the mail server- this is so easy to do and does not alter the integrity of your valid addresses
    - do not 'download' the messages to the device, but sync them. IMAP is preferable for this, although a POP server can be mimic'd to do the same, in a way.

"- Is the iphone compatible with Dreamhost?"
srsly??!? i cannot believe this is a real question.
