it could be the voltage rates that bluejam mentined (220/240?) or it could be the different frequencies in the electricity net. europe uses 50 Hz in every electrical appliance, while US uses 60 Hz. Hence you should've used an adapter that converts 50 to 60 I guess..
And that's why NTSC and PAL have different framerates... F Y I...
