Pete Wentz Says He's 'Excited to Be a Dad'

Newlywed Pete Wentz is ready to embrace fatherhood for the first time.
In an interview with E! News on Tuesday night at the Op clothing launch party in Los Angeles, Wentz revealed he's "excited to be a dad."
"I'm genuinely a nervous person in general," said Wentz.
But finding out he was expecting a child with wife Ashlee Simpson, whom he married in a fantasy wedding on May 17, was an exception.
"The first time I ever went to the doctor's office and heard the (baby's) heartbeat, I felt totally content and at peace with everything," he said.
Wentz and his wife, who has changed her name to Ashlee-Wentz but will go by Ashlee Simpson-Wentz professionally, confirmed the pregnancy on Wentz's friendsandenemies.com website last Thursday.
"While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child," the couple wrote. "This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family."
The day after their wedding, Simpson-Wentz told PEOPLE, "I would love to have a big family one day." Added her new husband: "A big soccer team or a band!"
