  It's not a case of putting her nose out of joint. The conversation would be like this:
  Me: " can you stop calling me that"
  CD: "What"
  Me: "ya'know... sweets, hon, darlin'..."
  CD: "SOOOOORRRRYYYYY!!! did I offend you?, you should be proud that I think of you so affectionately.
  Me: "Yeah it drives me a little mad, your not my girlfriend and if you were I would ask you to stop.... aprt from..... well... er... anyway can you stop it"
  CD: " I'll try"
  Me: "Thanks"
  ....
  5mins later
  ....
  CD: "hey darl can you do this for me...?"
  arrghhh
