As long as you're there for your kid it should be fine! I know my dad used to complain about this. But whenever I was on vacation there, he'd always have us be babysat while he was at the bar or w/e. Never called, didn't change when I left the house. My step dad's slander didn't change anything, it was my dad not being there that gradually got me to ignore him you know.
So all in all, slander doesn't really affect whe he'll think like your actions imo so if you're responsible you have nothing to worry.
