I lost a best friend due to drug problems. And two others went to rehab. But it was not because they started with pot (or hashish, much more popular here). The transition from hashish to cocaine and/or heroine is not because of drug addiction. It's a personal option you take. The same you take when you try your first cigar. Most of time this decision is made in a sober conscieous way (the environment and the 'friends' you have at time may have count as an influence). I do smoke hashish once in a while (usually alone, with a Coltrane record...), but I will not promote it nor I'll write pot smoking topic and/or threads (not related to this topic, but to others showing off their coolness...). I understand your anger, I saw what waits in the end of that line.
P.S. - Labelling 'drugs' is a complex subject... In a wine loving country like mine, no one sees it (or doesnt want to) as the cause of many deaths and accidents: domestic, traffic and others. But, as pointed earlier, this also as to do with personal options. Personally, I can't deny myself a glass(es) of white or red wine in a good meal...
