My understand of the history's a little hazy, but haven't we spent the last 40 years exporting our North Sea crude oil assets? Who benefited from that, exactly? Where is our energy security blanket? Our future-proofing slushfund of billions (like Norway's)? Both parties, Conservative and Labour, have sold us up the river there - so its got fuck all to do with Mr Brown and co.
