I agree, I did a lot of research on this a couple weeks ago when I decided to buy my PS2 (and I've very glad that I did).
I came to the conclusion that PS2 has better games and more of them, while allowing for backwards compatibility of a system that already had a huge selection.
XBox is superior in hardware, but for me it was playability and PS2 won that no hands down in my opinion.
Maybe in another year, XBox can fine tune it's software developers and get some better stuff coming out, maybe a better controller as mentioned as well.
