Most designs don't have trade dress.
Also keep in mind that just because a manufacturer has the rights to the name, doesn't mean that they're reproducing fully authentic designs. Vitra still manufacturers the Eames side chair, but they use PP instead of fiberglass - no doubt to cut costs. Modernica, on the other hand, doesn't hold the rights to the Eames name, but does have the proper presses and continues to use fiberglass...
