way back in the day, my friends are I were very partial to rolling, then just going crazy with some pens and paper..
I sat down at about 5am one sunday morning with a sharpie and a roll of wallpaper, and starting laying out this post-modern board game based on celebrity culture, thin veiled drug references and psychosis.
It was all going rather well, and I thought it was a good point to take a break, but was worried to see it was now way past 10am, my tongue had turned to leather, the pen was dead and was really feeling a bit stiff.
I turned round to gather up the end of the roll of wallpaper (I had been drawing on the back), and was horrified to see that I had covered 13 feet of it with content that would have had been committed against my will had it made it out of the house...

Another time, my brother and I, in similar circumstances, developed a dangerous form of self-hypnotism that consisted of simultaneously listening to the sound of the pen on the paper, and writing it down, onomatopaeically, eg.. skrit-skrat fr-shkkle-dascra-shk-dp-shra.shr... a very few words of course, you are writing the sound of what it sounded like to write what you'd just written seconds before. The pen, and the writing, and your hand, ear and the sound of the pen on the paper all become focussed and simultaneously part of the same experience, it's as if the life-force of the universe itself is just looping in an infinite and accelerating feedback loop from your brain to your hand, into the words as they appear on the paper which you then hear and then that passes back through your hand etc etc..
Entranced in this ridiculous way we covered nealy 10 pages of standard legal pad.
Heaven help us if it had ever been discovered, I probably wouldnt be tempted to try it again, certainly not on any kind of drug. It does take a certain amount of concentration.
