I don't think a big protest or anything needs to be done, but it is important to discuss it. We talked about similar ads in my discourse class this past year and what's interesting is that Gisele was a prominent character in that one too.

Also reminds me of the Playstation ads:

    • these images will burn my wife, thanks jaline!!!vanilla_cam
    • uh..yeah....but you're on the side that it's not strange? I see some very weird racial things going on here...Jaline
    • sounds like an interesting class as well. but is it not our own prejudices that spin these ads this way? can't we get past that?vanilla_cam
    • No, you're right about that. The Playstation ones, on the other hand, are very obvious. Not so much the Gisele ones.Jaline
    • i think there is something wrong, yeah. but i figure if the two represented are fine with it, who cares what the public thinks?vanilla_cam
    • I did note that people shouldn't be making a huge deal out of this.Jaline
    • But then we have to think about if there's a line, and if there is a point when it has been or is crossed.Jaline
    • isn't this stuff apparent during the shoot? in that case it's up to the artist and those directly involved?vanilla_cam
    • or some ass at vogue looking for publicity.vanilla_cam
    • They know what they're doing.Jaline
    • Ads are very intentional.Jaline
    • I have to say, I thought those Playstation ads were very well done... controversial sure, but I didn't really have a problem with them, nor did any of my friends (black, white, yellow, purple, green, didn't matter).ismith
    • them, nor did any of my friends (black, white, yellow, purple, green, didn't matter).ismith
    • I liked them, but the racial stuff was obvious. Sony can't deny they did it on purpose, and it got them more attention.Jaline
    • So they basically achieved what they wanted in the end. But I think some ads were pulled.Jaline
