  I think Apple needs to rethink who is doing their headphones. I've had 4 replacement pairs given to me at the Apple store for the stock cheap-o's that they give you with the iPod, all in less than 1 yr. The Sony ones shown above are super cheap and sound OK for general beating around. I'm rough on my toys, so $150 would be another dumb investment on my part.
