Are the in-laws very involved in this process? If not, and your fiancee respects you as a designer, it should be cake. Who's paying for these things to be printed? If the in-laws are cool with you paying for at least part of the printing, that's half the battle (one that I personally never won...) Just be mindful of her sensibilities as well as your own – pretend you're designing a invite for a design firm that you are launching with an associate, and you have to take both of your senses of style into consideration. Make sense?
If the whole design process turns into a freakin nightmare, don't fret. You'll have plenty of real problems to worry about sooner or later.
