Good luck Brooke, I moved to Rome from London 2 years ago.
Patience is what I needed, dont expect a social life to fall into your lap, I had to get ou there and make the effort to meet people and follow up things, but maybe you already know people in NY, in which case ignore me.
Moving to a new environment will really help your work, not that it needs helping !
