why compare mac's safari to windows ie? why not compare mac safari to mac ie?
mac's ie had the best standards compliance of any of the ie's. the latest windows ie has it's pitfalls, but for the most part it's pretty comprehensive on its compliance of standards.
if you sort though zeldman.com you'll probably find some reasonable information on the subject. maybe check out webstandards.org too.
