when doing work for a good friend i usually cut a very good deal. either for free with the rule of "don't take advantage of a situation" or for just enough money to get food or beer for the week.
i figure when doing stuff for friends it's more of a favor. someday when i need that favor returned they'll do it for me too.
if you have to charge them do it for $500 bucks... $250 at a time and tell em you want to get in free to all their shows and any cds or t-shirts they may have.
oh, and their leftover lays after they're done with them at the show. ; )
