Hi there and welcome to the internet and the wonderful world of IT.
In all likelihood they have not, of course, hacked into your MediaTemple email account and sent thousand of messages from your POP service - rather, your email address has been appropriated and used in the sender/reply-to field of a mass mailout, so that now you're getting lots of bounce backs.
Don't stress it - happens all the time - my email's received a few this week too, and I'm with MT.
