Also, it's not easy to get things tailored or looking modern unless you really look around.

For example, my dad bought me my first suit when I was going to my third high school prom (that's another story, but I was already a sophomore in college, was asked by a girl who was a senior at our high school part of our multi-year group of friends).

He took me to a place kind of like a Men's Wearhouse. I liked the suit I got at the time - this was 1998 - and did not know much otherwise about what was right or wrong.

A few years ago I looked at the size: 42 Long. 42 Long. In 1998 when I weighed less, was smaller, etc. etc.

Fast forward to 2007 when I bought a new suit at Banana Republic, had a suiting expert tell me what looked good or not, and got one that I completely love: 40 Regular. Modern fit.

It just amazes me that I was put in a 42L back then. I tried that suit on in comparison, and it looked like I was wearing a tent. I remember the guy that helped with it was some old guy in his 70s.

So, my point is, find people who are in tune with modern fashion and close in age to you. You might have to spend more and search harder, but it's worth it. I'm a religious reader of GQ and Details and that's what they say all the time.
