Not having read the above feedback, here is mine:
While I like the visual idea of combining the wood background with the type used in the menu, not much else work out visually... In my humble opinion.
It seems to me that the site's elements are not aligned properly, and don't fit each other, which gives the site a "busy" feel. Confusing.
I would go for something a little simpler.
