I came over from Toronto about 2.5 years ago to work for Dietwee in Utrecht and after a year I decided to leave and take a much higher paying AD gig at a small integrated communications studio in Amsterdam called Reeves. For many reasons it's been a good experience but portfolio-wise it hasn't been that lucrative and now I realise I'm not too keen on the whole AD position at this point in my career, I'd rather be more hands-on and actually designing...
It's always been my intention to work in London, so after sticking it out here for another 15 - 16 months [building up the savings] then I'll look for a senior designer position over there...
I love Amsterdam as a city, it's very inspiring in both the creative that is produced, and the work/life balance, but a majority of the studio's I like are 1 -3 people, the taxes are insane and my girl is dead set on London, so, yeah...
