"going well... never really understood difference between being a company and being a freelancer? Is it being only one person"

You're mixing metaphors. The difference lies between being a company and being a sole trader.

A company is registered; limited, or publicly listed.
A sole trader is a single person, self employed

A freelancer is different terminology meaning you are available for hire as temporary staff for another company. You can be a freelancer who is a sole trader or a freelancer who is registered as a company.... if you are hired like a temp to boost a workforce or company skillset temporarily as per requirements, you're a freelancer.

Similarly you can be a sole trader or a company that has its own workspace and has business relationship with 'clients', as opposed to temporary employers.

Studiospooky is a Limited company, but its just me. I used to be a sole trader, but there are more benefits to being a company. I'm not a freelancer though.

    • I'm a ltd company, what i mean is people still ask if you're freelance

    • but I've working at a few places for a couple of weeks at a flat rate fee... so makes me freelance too
